What is the North Suffolk Skills Centre?

The North Suffolk Skills Centre is a state-of-the-art, purpose built facility in Halesworth which opened in 2007. The Centre is where learners aged 14+ are given exciting opportunities to develop new skills in a range of specialism’s including: Engineering, Hairdressing, Motor Vehicle, Hospitality and Catering, Health & Social Care and the Construction trades; brickwork, carpentry and joinery, electrical installation, painting and decorating and plumbing.

The new facility will be used by five educational partners (Bungay High School, Leiston High School, Sir John Leman High School, Stradbroke High School and Lowestoft College) who have come together to
form 'The North Suffolk Partnership.' It is also the intention of the Partnership that the new Centre will be actively promoted and marketed to community users and interest groups for use beyond the school day.

The new building is semi-industrial in terms of its look and feel and offers a different learning environment to the more conventional school layout.

The investment of over £2.4 million was nade by EEDA, ESF, ERDF, LSC, Barclays Bank, LJ Create and the project partners. If offers local communities the very best in learning opportunities in our region.

THE VISION:

The North Suffolk Partnership will work together to secure the delivery of high quality learning and teaching opportunities in order to meet the needs and aspirations of individuals, families, employers and the communities we serves.

This is achieved by:
