is this course right for me?
If you want to gain practical experience within a care setting a BTEC Level 2 Diploma is a work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. It introduces you to the employment area you have chosen and provides a good basis to progress to a more advanced work-related qualification.
A BTEC Level 2 Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs grades A*– C and is taken as a full-time course.

what will i be doing?
You will spend up to three days in college, with the option of attending a work placement. .
The course is made up of eight units – 4 core units that everyone takes and 4 specialist units. The specialist units enable you to study a particular area in more depth.

All students will need to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check to comply with the Care Standards Act , if they undertake placement. This costs around £48.

There are opportunities for you to obtain Functional Skills in English and Maths.
how long will the course last?
It is a full time one-year course.
how will my prgress on the course be assessed?
Units are assessed internally and externally, but all of the units are graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.
